Cambridge's Quintessential Inn. . .
The ultimate experience of a boutique hotel capturing the essence of history.
Situated in the heart of it all, this quaint family owned hotel is the perfect destination for all of your travel needs. The Best Western Homestead Inn is just 12 miles from the infamous battleground parks of Lexington and Concord, 5 miles from the old world charm of downtown Boston and only one and a half miles from the nation's oldest college, Harvard University.
The Boston area is conveniently accessible by car or public transportation. The Best Western Homestead Inn offers free parking (a rare commodity in the Boston market). Just a seven-minute stroll from the hotel will place you at the country's first subway system, affectionately known as the T.
Begin your journey into the magical world of history at the Best Western Homestead Inn, managed by the third generation members of the Lingos family. In the beginning (1950), the Lingos family purchased a small piece of land where they built what was to become their family legacy, The Homestead Donut House.
Soon the Donut House expanded into a 700-seat restaurant, banquet facility, coffee shop, and lounge. The restaurant was an overwhelming success, attracting such high-profile clientele as the young senator and future president, John F. Kennedy as well as Congressman and future Speaker of the House, Tip O'Neil. The restaurant even played a part in the infamous Brink's Robbery, when one of the suspects suggested that he was at the homestead when the robbery took place!
In 1962, the Lingos Family embarked on another expansion acquiring the land behind the restaurant to build a small motel. In 1963, a devastating fire completely destroyed the restaurant. Despite this setback, the motel project continued, including a restaurant, lounge, and banquet facility. During this same year, the property opened as The Homestead Motor Inn.
In 1984, the family joined the ranks of Best Western International, changing the business name to the Best Western Homestead Inn, which continues to thrive with the same dedication for service and personal attention to the guests.
Like the generations of the same family that founded and operated the business, generations of the same family of customers return year after year to the Homestead - home to many hearts.
